How to use the Lesson Plan
Click here for the sample lesson plan. The lesson plan is the "brain" or core of the TRISMS curriculum. The lesson plan for each unit covers a two-week period of research. Students should begin by looking up the vocabulary words for the unit as these will be helpful in their research. After that, the student/parent may select the order in which they wish to complete the required questionnaires.
There are questionnaires in Rise of Nations for Art, Music, Architecture, and Regions.
For People, the student is asked to look up the person(s) listed and record a few sentences about the person.
Timeline Events are to be researched and added to a timeline. A region timeline is provided in the student pack, or, alternatively, the student may choose to use a timeline software such as Easy Timeline Creator, which is available from TRISMS
The Regions column lists Maps which need to be completed (blank maps are provided), map details, and Worksheets (individual to each unit).
The Literature column lists assignments which follow the lesson plan. All required literature selections are included in the Student Book and follow directly behind each lesson plan, along with accompanying assignments. IEW assignments are also given, but are not necessary to use TRISMS.
The Test Packet contains a vocabulary and a unit quiz for each unit, to be completed at the end of the unit.
All questionnaires, research, pictures, and literature assignments are placed in a student-created coursebook.
For the student wishing to go deeper, there are expanded lists of philosophers, authors, etc. for each unit located at the bottom of the lesson plan.
