Unit Plans
Click here for the sample unit plan.
Unit Plans are set up in a unit-at-a-glance format with assignments in the categories of Art, Music, Architecture, Rhetoric, History, Literature, Identify, and Vocabulary. Other Interests feature other representatives of this field for the region and decade being studied. Science brings the student up to date and provides further areas for research. Entertainment gives the student an idea of ways people amused themselves during the decade. An Authors list gives the student more possibilities for further reading. Innovations keep the student abreast of helpful inventions. Faith documents people and different movements in the church worldwide. Identify features important people or movements.
Time Table
(See Age of Revolution
Time Table)
This table lists the time periods covered in each unit. It acts as a table of contents.
As the student works through the unit plan, he or she will construct a timeline that chronologically lists the events being studied by geographic area. The timeline provides a big picture overview and reference that relates to the subject matter, cultivating a broad understanding of the time period being studied and will be added to the student's coursebook.
Timeline Events
Timeline events will be defined and kept with the unit in the coursebook. These events are listed on the Timeline Events sheet that follows each unit plan. Definitions are required for the items in
bold. The events in bold are to be defined in a brief summary by the date, significant details, and impact. These events should be placed on a timeline.
Easy Timeline Creator or
It's About Time are two excellent resources for creating marvelous timelines.
Coursebook
The student-created coursebook will contain the questionnaires that the student has completed and provide an organized reference for the subjects studied. Also included in the coursebook will be maps that illustrate the nation's growth and expansion or reduction as a result of conquest or war. World events, drawings, articles, and pictures the student gathers during the course of study, plus literature, history, and rhetoric assignments will complete the coursebook.
